An online meeting was held today between representatives of ASSORUP (President Daniele Ricciardi and Development Manager Federica Perrotta) and the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), Bart Lemmon, Director of International Initiatives. The meeting was also attended by Ivo Locatelli and Francesco Guerriero from the EUPPM.net Working Group, promoted by ASSORUP. NASPO was formed in 1947 and unites US state procurement leaders and delivers collaborative and innovative solutions that generate value and strengthen public procurement nationwide. You can learn more about NASPO through their website (NASPO.org).
The discussion provided an opportunity to explore the history of the two organizations highlighting numerous points of contact in their initiatives and approaches to professionalization in the procurement sector.
Next steps:
- The NASPO Exchange in March will be another valuable occasion to better understand the American system in comparison with international partners.
- The European conference in Italy in October 2026 could provide a platform to address international topics and deepen the framework that will be outlined by the new directives.
